Fare Healthy

Hey guys, I hope you’re having a good weekend and that Smonday feeling isn’t too bad!

So yesterday I went along to Fare Healthy at The Old Truman Brewery in Brick Lane and wanted to tell you all about it as I honestly had such a fantastic day!

I went with my sister, Claudia, and we had purchased tickets for it a couple of weeks ago. There was a line up of things to do throughout the day, from talks (some free, some you had to buy tickets for) to ‘have a go’ workshops, exercise classes and a self-love surgery where you could book in for a 20 minute consultation with either a food psychologist, personal trainer or nutritionist. In addition to this there were hundreds of stalls to walk around and sample all sorts of healthy products like body scrubs, juices and endless amounts of healthy food.

After arriving, the first thing we did was walk around and headed straight to the Self Love Surgery, so we could book in consultations in the afternoon: I booked in with a food psychologist and Claudia saw a Personal Trainer.

After we booked in, we noticed a Pip and Nut pancake stall and ordered the most delicious buckwheat pancakes for our breakfast! I wish we could eat these every day!

Secondly, we headed over to the ‘Have A Go’ area and took part in a Pip and Nut Energy Ball workshop. We were given a small bag filled with almonds, dates and cherries which we then blended. We added some pip and nut peanut butter and blended it all together. We then got a bit messy and made the energy balls with our hands – rolling them around in our chosen topping of cacao!
It was so much fun and the energy balls are so tasty! We got to take away what we made, too!

We continued to spend lots of our time just walking around; sampling so many healthy food/drinks and spending too much money buying them too! I walked over to the Livia’s Kitchen stand to stock up on her raw millionaire bites, only to find that Livia herself, was standing there! I was being such a fan girl and got a picture with her, too. She is honestly  SO pretty and SO lovely to talk to! This made my day!

There was a line-up of free talks and we decided to attend one on Mindful Eating – which was actually really interesting. The main gist of the talk was to try and be more aware of what you are consuming and that if you’re not looking after your mind and are really stressed, then no amount of healthy food will make you feel better. Which, when you think about it, makes sense and is something that I will definitely be taking on board from now on.

At 3pm, I met with a Food Psychologist called Lydia McCall. She was really really nice and looks into your relationship with food and how you can adapt changes. I’m going to implement some of the strategies she was advising me on and I’ll get back to you in another moment to tell you how it’s going!

Claudia met with a personal trainer, Tally Rye, and they spoke about finding the time to do exercise when you have such a busy schedule. Tally has some 20 minute home HIIT workouts on her youtube channel so these seem like a great place to start! She also advised that if you’re consuming 2000 calories of healthy food a day, you won’t lose any weight because your calorie consumption is still the same and so you should try to reduce your intake by 200 calories a day, to start to see changes.

After our talks, we were all fared out, having been there since 10.30am and so decided to go home. We both had such a great day, meeting all kinds of lovely people and brands. From well-known established brands like Deliciously Ella and her Mae Deli and Livias Kitchen, to new brands such as Skinny Dipping, which is run by 2 lovely young girls who make them in one of their mum’s kitchens. So sweet!
